President


Mike Cook

Has been a board member since 1995 and Chairman of the Board since 2014. His previous experience as a funeral director has been extremely beneficial in his leadership in his various roles he has served on the Board. Mike is the proud father of two and proud papa of six grandchildren. Mike is a very active member of Christ Church in Long Sault. He has enjoyed many volunteer roles as a Side Person, Reader, Choir Member and Fund Raiser Auctioneer as well as a member of the Parish Council. Mike has presently been in the Automotive Industry since 1994 as a Sales-person, Business Manager, used Car Manager and Sales Manager. His expertise in public relations and passion for 'singing' is quite evident at the annual Memorial Service each year.


1st Vice-President


Doug Wereley

Has been a board member since 2013 and is presently Chairperson of the Finance Committee. Past experience includes leadership roles in the field of education as a teacher, board consultant and administrator. Doug has also served the community as a volunteer on a number of committees and associations. He has a keen interest in the care and maintenance of the cemetery grounds and the financial stability of St. Lawrence Valley Cemetery.


2nd Vice-President


Ron Symington

Has been a board member since 2015 and is also the Chairperson of the Maintenance Committee. Ron has many years of construction and building inspection experience and, like Doug, has served as a volunteer on a number of committees, boards and associations. He is very proud of the teamwork of the board and staff to keep our cemetery looking beautiful.

Ken Kyer

Has been a board member since 2013. Ken was employed at Transport Canada, working most of his years at TCTI in Cornwall and then subsequently working at the same location (NCTI) under Nav Canada since 1996. He retired in 2009 and has enjoyed his contributions on the Cemetery board. His hobbies include biking, skiing, pickleball and enjoying his family. As he states, “ The grounds are scenic and the setting is picturesque; a place that I will be happy to spend the next phase of my life.”

Shirley Johnston

Shirley has been a board member with the St. Lawrence Valley Cemetery since 2016. She enjoys the collaboration of the committee and all of the work that goes into maintaining the cemetery as a beautiful, peaceful resting place. She has been employed since 1996 at Tarle & McAllister Appraisals and has been involved on several committees over the years.

Debbie Jones-Tinker

Has been a board member since 2016 and is presently on the Promotions Committee. Debbie has served in many volunteer roles over the last 40 years and thoroughly enjoys being part of this dynamic and diverse group and looks forward to many more years in this capacity. She has been employed for the last 28 years by Kraft Canada which is now known as Lactalis Canada in the village of Ingleside. She Likes to dabble in photography and can usually be found traipsing around woods and waterways looking for interesting subjects. Other hobbies include gardening, camping, kayaking the beautiful St. Lawrence River and running. She is the proud mum and Step-mum of five adult children and Granny Deb to one.

Linda Runions

Linda has been a board member since 2018 and sits on the Promotions Committee. She has volunteered with several charity organizations in the past. Linda retired in 2019 from the Blessed Sacrament Church as office administrator for 21 years. She was a Social Service Worker prior to working at the church. Some of her hobbies include bowling, yoga and reading. She is very pleased to be able to sit on the board and appreciates all the work that is done by the staff to keep the cemetery looking so beautiful.

Tammy Shannon

Also acts as the Secretary-Treasurer for the volunteer board of directors. She obtained a Post-Secondary Degree in Business Accounting and has been performing all the administrative and accounting functions for her own Office Supply business since 2001. Tammy strives to maintain the excellent reputation the cemetery has earned over the years, and she is committed to providing personal and excellent care to each family she serves.

Penny Sabourin

Our newest member joined our staff in the fall of 2019. Penny recently retired from the Cornwall Police Service as a court officer after 27 years. She was hired here to complete the data entry of our record cards in our record keeping program. She is a proud grandmother of 3 grandchildren. She spends her time enjoying family and friends as well as being out on the St. Lawrence river enjoying the beautiful waterways.


Grounds Keeper


Kevin Tobin

After retirement as a chemist in 2011, Kevin decided to share his love for the great outdoors as our Grounds Keeper. His experience as a landscaper and desire to help others are definite assets to the cemetery. Kevin is dedicated to ensuring the grounds are in tip-top shape and each interment is conducted in the utmost professional and respectful manner possible.

Mark joined our team in 2016 after retiring from a 35 year career at St. Lawrence Power and Cornwall Electric. Mark is the proud father of two children and proud grandfather of two grandchildren. He is an avid outdoors man and takes pride in ensuring the grounds are in excellent condition. His caring nature towards people is appreciated by all those he serves.
